Margot here and admits openly that I love French
Cuisine done right. It was the irresistible aroma of garlic and Gruyere maybe
it was Emmental cheese that stopped me dead in my tracks. I eagerly climbed the
steps to L'Escargot, a French restaurant housed in a colorful cottage on Front
Street.
The luncheon selection was easy: snails. Plump and
tender, some snug in their shells and dripping with garlic butter, others
stuffed in cherry tomatoes topped with Roquefort, still more tucked in
profiteroles and mushroom caps. Really delicious. Best I've had since New
Orleans!

You might want to try a round of golf at Mullet Bay! This 18-hole, par 70 course is a magnificent setting on the edge of Mullet Bay Beach on the Dutch part of the island. Hurricane Luis demolished it and many surrounding structures; so it's still rough but very playable. Most say it's lots of fun and enjoy the water on most holes plus the views are to die for!

We read ahead of time that the most inexpensive way to
go to Marigot was by bus for $1.50 per person. We could of done one of the
excursions, but we wanted to see Marigot on our own so we found a bus stop and
waited. We realized after about 15 vans went by that those were the buses and
that we had to look in their windows for a card that read their destination and
wave them down. It was not a very far distance - the whole Island is only 37
square miles - but it took about 25 minutes to get to Marigot with traffic. The
most congested of the traffic was right in Phillipsburg, St. Maarten.
